HistoryPaget's travelling pictures visited Lowood periodically screening films in the Royal Hotel's hall. Around 1926, the Lowood Picture Company was formed and Gilmaster's old shop was converted into a picture theatre, which later burned down in 1933. Designed and built by Lowood pioneer John Walters in 1935, the Jubilee Theatre was named in honour of King George V's jubilee. This grand old theatre ceased operation in 1966. Wayne's World discount variety store currently operates out of the building. TypeTourism & RecreationReferencesJubilee Theatre Factsheet. Esk: Somerset Regional Council. (Held at Esk Library).
