About Somerset Stories
Somerset is a large scenic region of lakes and landscapes an hour west of Brisbane City. Somerset is home to the First Nations peoples of Dungibara, Jinibara, Kabi Kabi and Yuggera Ugarapul people. Their songs and stories live on in the flora, fauna and natural beauty of the region.
Somerset Stories is a digital archive of photos, memorabilia, stories, documents, maps, and interviews that bring the community’s history to life. It captures key moments, evolving streetscapes and landscapes, major projects like Somerset Dam, local celebrations, and much more.
Somerset Stories includes:
- historical photographs
- postcards and ephemera
- reports
- digitised maps
- objects
- oral histories (personal histories)
- short stories
- town guides
- research indexes
