Contribute

Somerset Stories is committed to improving and growing its collection of memories and stories about the Somerset region. We are interested in stories and contributions from community members, businesses and organisations.  For information and items to be accepted they must have a connection to the Somerset region and its community.  

To contribute any information or items, you must be a member of Somerset Stories. To join see How To Become A Member user guide. 

There are a variety of ways that you can contribute to Somerset Stories. All information or items contributed will be subject to approval by the Somerset Libraries’ team. Information will be reviewed for relevance and may be edited or more information may be added before publishing. Your contributions will be made public so only share information that belongs to yourself, and that you are happy to be visible on the internet for others to see.  

Additional information can be contributed to existing items in Somerset Stories by: 

• Suggesting edits to existing content 
• Adding tags to an item to identify objects or people  
• Adding Geotags to pin an item’s location on the map 
• Sharing your recollections about an item

If you have items that you wish to contribute to Somerset Stories, you can do this by using the UPLOAD button on the left menu. You are only able to upload items that you are the copyright holder of, or items which are in the public domain. If you are unsure of the copyright status, familiarise yourself with Copyright or Contact Us before uploading. 

Items that can be uploaded include photos, videos, documents and ephemera (such as posters, flyers, ticket stubs). The types of items that you can upload are shown in the green buttons below. Uploads are required to be in a supported format. You can also upload information about events and places.  

For more information on what items are accepted and how to contribute an upload, please Contact Us.  Depending on the type of item you have uploaded as a contribution, a Deed of Gift form containing the details of your donation will need to be completed and emailed to somersetstories@somerset.qld.gov.au  

Current Focus

Our current focus for contributions is on past and upcoming agricultural shows in the Somerset region.
