An agricultural show society was formed in Lowood in 1906. Land was secured for a showground reserve on part of the Rifle Range and the Tarampa Estate. Nearly 100 residents helped to clear the showground land. Money was raised from C.H.D. Lindemann and the Bacchus Marsh company for more land. The Lindemann's old house was initially used as a pavilion; then timber for the ring and pavilions was milled free by Dennings Saw Mill. A new pavilion, with a special Crow's Ash dance floor, costing 750 pounds, was opened by Mrs Lumley Hill in 1920. The first Agricultural and Pastoral Show was held at Lowood in 1907. The Lowood Show Society annually holds a show in June and a show ball, a rodeo and a Bachelors & Spinsters Ball.
