HistoryA telegraph office opened at Lowood Railway Station in 1885 and closed in 1886. A post office was located at the railway station from 1888 and a mail service between Lowood and Tarampa commenced in 1897. A single story, timber framed, street facing shop with a chamferboard parapet was used as the post office from 1929. Local post office records were pulped during WWI and WWII. A purpose built post office at 79 Main Street was constructed around 1938. The current post office is now located at 9 Walters Street, Lowood.
