Moore
DESCRIPTION
History
The town and district on land formerly part of "Colinton" Station and named after the Moore Family who own "Colinton". The town site was known unofficially as "Stanley Gate" after a gate there which marked the entrance to Mount Stanley run. In the early years of it's existence, the town was referred to locally as "Mooretown" but officially it has always been Moore. The Moore Receiving Office opened in March, 1903 and became the post office in September 1905. The Yimbin-Linville section of the Brisbane Valley Branch Railway (27 Kilometres), on which Moore was situated, was opened on 22nd November, 1910 and Moore Railway Station opened on the same day.
