The Brisbane Valley Railway Line started from Ipswich and eventually reached Yarraman.
Construction started on the first 19 miles to what later became Lowood on October 1882. The official opening to Lowood was recorded as 16th June 1884. The opening to Esk was celebrated on 9 August 1884. The final section to Yarraman Creek was opened on 1 May 1913.
