BiographyWilliam McLauchlan was born near Ipswich on 16th November 1878. He was the eldest son of Mr. Robert McLauchlan. After moving to the Villeneuve district with his famil William worked as a teamster and with the advent of rail in the district worked in timber-getting and grazing. He became a prominent athlete in the district. William married Barbara Bell of Pine Mountain in January 1908. Commencing as a councillor in 1915, William served for over 30 years with Kilcoy Shire Council as either councillor or chairman. He was chairman of Kilcoy Shire Council for the years, 1920 to 1921,1921 to 1924,1930 to 1933,1933 to 1937,1938 to 1939 and 1943 to 1946.
