HistoryDriving further into the Brisbane River Valley from Toogoolawah lies the Moore-Linville Cemetery, where the Roman Catholic families are buried on the left and side of the enclosure, while the other denominations fill the rest of the cemetery.
The Moore-Linville Cemetery holds the headstone of Robert Williams, who built Stonehouse, another heritage listed homestead that can be seen from the D’Aguilar Highway on the way to Colinton, but which is not yet open to the public.
It is well worthwhile completing the drive to Linville where you can see the Pioneer Hotel, build in 1905 and transported from Yimbin outside Toogoolawah to Linville by bullock wagon in 1911 to follow the railway line.
The Pioneer hotel is rare because it is almost 100 years old and still in its original condition. It continues to serve the community as it always did and offers meals, basic accommodation and a well-stocked bar with walls hung with memorabilia. The railway station in Linville has also been restored and Linville has a beautifully kept cenotaph of unusual design.
